  Zone Visit feedback, from ones still in??

  "it's the intent that counts not the result.".

  i have been out of the jw organization for some 22 years now and i sometimes get a reminding jolt out the hoops that some will jump through to make their religion make sense to them.

  the first line in this post is what a jw on the street here in salinas told me on saturday when trying to justify the society's history of false prophecies.

  JW: Ray the point is that at least the Witnesses were trying to keep alert and stay on the watch versus being asleep at the wheel like the rest of the churches. In other words Ray it's the intent that counts and not the result.

  If you were on a 8 day cruise and the captain kept announcing: " Attention Passengers, we're sinking go to the bow of the ship....no wait,go to the stern.....no go to the starboard...no, the port side...never mind, apparently the ship isn't sinking just yet but it probably will be in a few hours " The Passengers would be scrambling around at first but would end up frustrated, confused and possibly dead if and when it eventually happened.

  Is the Captains intent to keep his passengers alert and on their toes the most important thing here or is accurate information from the person claiming to be an authority and who is in charge, what really counts?

  ok so i know its not really anything to do with jwness but we are struggling with baby names and really can't think of one we both like.

  its getting a bit desperate as i'm due in about 8 weeks .. i'm getting bored of looking at the same old names on the baby names websites so any suggestions would be much appreciated (girls please).. **cash prize for the one we choose!

  The Day Armageddon Came

  my grandfather only had a third grade education and knew little about the bible when jws called on him.

  he was a different breed of jw than those of modern times.

  he truly cared about people and would give them the shirt off his back.

  Your Grandfather's sad last moments reminds me of something we found out a few days ago.

  My wifes JW grandmother died a few years ago in her late 80's. All the JW relatives live a few hours away and it was her non JW Grandchildren who watched out for her in her last years. As it happens, only one person was with her as she died and that was one of my Wife's non JW Cousins. We didn't know this before but this Non JW Cousin happend to mention the other day that poor Grandma was really terrified in the hours before her death and this Cousin couldn't understand why or what the grandmother was trying to explain to her.

  We asked her what Grandma was saying and the cousin said " I'm not sure exactly what she was talking about but she was really upset and I didn't know how to help her. She kept saying something about how she wasn't sure if she was one of the other sheep and kept saying again and again, something about the number 144,000 and that she very very frightended to die."

  My wife and I looked at eachother and knew exactly what was going on. Grandma claimed to be of the annointed after she was quite elderly but none of the JW family really took it seriously. Apparently she was having second thoughts of guilt about having partook of the emblems. Anyway it was distressing to find this out this kind and good woman died in such an agitated state. If one of the JW relatives had been there, they may have been able to comfort her and assure her that Jehovah would take care of her no matter what calling she had. Wanting to spare our feeilings, these non JW's relatives sheilded this information from the rest of the family who are all JW's. They didn't realize there was any JW significance, they just wanted us all to think Grandma had passed away peacefully.

  Zone Visit: An Announcement That Will "Test Your Faith"

  this is the scuttlebutt in one of the "bethel congregations" by us.. no details as to exactly what this "faith-testing" announcement might be.. anyone else hear any of this pre-zone visit hype?.

  i believe the jws are morphing into a mainstream social religious group.

  we've long been taught we had the truth due to our suoerior doctrine.

  it appears that the gb knows that their teachings are ludicrous and indefensible.

  We put a lot of emphasis on the writings of one socially inept little nerd back in those days. What if we had known that one day all that "deep" stuff we studied would be dumped? Just imagine all those book studies I had to sit through as a kid - wasted. I could have stayed home and played like all the other kids, or at least done something that wasn't a waste.

  Singapore: The Religious consequences of Tim Cook coming out as gay

  as if we needed any further evidence that the minds of christians are not all that they should be, the shenagins in the christian segment of the christian segment of the singapore population once again demonstrated that each time they fart, they blow some of their brains away, and sadly they fart so much that there's not much brain left.. i guess most people have heard that time cook (boss of apple) publically stated this week that he was gay and proud of it.

  in most of the western world, it barely caused a ripple, but not so in singapore where christians are always lobbying the government against sin.. but, tim cook as a gay man provoked the ire of the singaporean church leadership.. i have not heard that anyone claimed that using an apple iphone would make you gay, but prominent church leader lawrence khong, was commissioned as an apostle by dr. peter wagner, of the international coalition of apostles, in 2000. .

  on hearing the news about tim cook, lawrence khong stop using iphone and even denounced technology altogether.

  Now that the printed word is less in demand, it's time for the Society to put all those Bethelites to work assembling their own JW.org Tablets and avoid using these tainted apple products in thier worship. Maybe that's why they're building that big compound in upstate NY even though they are scaling back on everything else.

  Human kindness

  i hold kindness in high regard; it separates us from the drudgery of life and elevates those who practice it as well as those who receive it.

  my family has been going through a big crisis for several weeks now and i've noticed a few things.

  several of the elders have expressed their concern for us, shared a scripture and then back out to field service or whatever.
